<h3>What is a Promo Code?</h3>

<p>A ‘Promo Code’ is a type of promotion that involves the customer entering a code at the checkout in order to apply a discount or&nbsp;recieve&nbsp;a free product.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="724" src="https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-2-1024x724.png" alt="" class="wp-image-188" srcset="https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-2-1024x724.png 1024w, https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-2-300x212.png 300w, https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-2-768x543.png 768w, https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-2.png 1172w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>This promotion can apply a discount (monetary or percentage) to the total order, a discount to individual products in the order or to add a free product to your order if you have met the required criteria.</p>

<h3>Creating a Promo Code</h3>

<p>To create a Promo Code, you will need to click on the ‘Promotions’ tab in the sidebar of the admin section. The next page will show the list of promotions that you have available to use. To create a new promotion, press the ‘Create’ button at the top of the page.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="703" height="494" src="https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-Enjovia-Gift-Vouchers-7.png" alt="" class="wp-image-189" srcset="https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-Enjovia-Gift-Vouchers-7.png 703w, https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-Enjovia-Gift-Vouchers-7-300x211.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 703px) 100vw, 703px" /></figure>

<p>The promotion creation modal will then pop up on the screen. Now you will need to specify a brief description of the promotion (so that you can remember what it is for at a later date).</p>

<p>You have 3 options when it comes to the type of Promo Code you can have. No matter which option you pick, you will need to ensure ‘Automatically Apply’ is not ticked as this will apply a discount without the customer needing to enter a code in.</p>

<div style="position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0;"><iframe src="https://www.useloom.com/embed/bc3a4b9d8a3943118ccbdcb8a5ba9382" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen style="position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;"></iframe></div>

<h3>Total Order</h3>

<p>A total order discount will be applied to the final value at the checkout. Because this discounts the final payment, it will included discounts of ‘Add-Ons’ and shipping options.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="918" height="814" src="https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-Enjovia-Gift-Vouchers-10.png" alt="" class="wp-image-190" srcset="https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-Enjovia-Gift-Vouchers-10.png 918w, https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-Enjovia-Gift-Vouchers-10-300x266.png 300w, https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-Enjovia-Gift-Vouchers-10-768x681.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 918px) 100vw, 918px" /></figure>

<p>As you can see from the example above, I have a ‘Promo Code’ of XMAS20 with a value of 20 percent (un-ticking ‘is percent’ will change it to a £20 value) and a person needs to have a total order amount of £100 in their basket in order to use the promotion.</p>

<p>Finally, the promotion is set to ‘Active’, meaning that this code can now be used on the site as soon as somebody has the requirements (£100 value or more in their basket) and have used the code (‘XMAS20’).</p>

<div style="position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0;"><iframe src="https://www.useloom.com/embed/bc3a4b9d8a3943118ccbdcb8a5ba9382" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen style="position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;"></iframe></div>

<h3>Per Product</h3>

<p>‘Per Product’ allows you to specify individual products that the promotion can be used on. If a customer has added 3 products to their basket, but the Promo Code can only be used on two, only those two will have a discount applied to them.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="870" height="788" src="https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-Enjovia-Gift-Vouchers-11.png" alt="" class="wp-image-191" srcset="https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-Enjovia-Gift-Vouchers-11.png 870w, https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-Enjovia-Gift-Vouchers-11-300x272.png 300w, https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-Enjovia-Gift-Vouchers-11-768x696.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px" /></figure>

<p>When clicking on the categories field, all current categories will appear, allowing you to add entire categories (all of the products within them) that you would like this discount to be applied to.</p>

<p>You can also add individual products by simply clicking in the products field and selecting which you would like to add.</p>

<p>An automatic discount is a discount that is applied without the need to enter a promo code.</p>

<p>Discounts can either be automatically applied via the product, or the discount can be applied at the checkout process.</p>

<h4>Product Discount</h4>

<p>This discount will make the ‘product tile’ on the home page, as well as the product page show the previous price, the percentage/value discount and the new price.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="363" height="378" src="https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-1.png" alt="" class="wp-image-182" srcset="https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-1.png 363w, https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-1-288x300.png 288w" sizes="(max-width: 363px) 100vw, 363px" /></figure>

<p>To create this, go to the ‘Promotions’ tab in the dashboard and then click ‘create’ a new promotion. After which, you will need to pick a ‘product discount’ and to fill in the details of this promotion.</p>

<p>A video on how to do this is shown below.</p>

<div style="position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0;"><iframe src="https://www.useloom.com/embed/b5a6048d76544f97ab8f26a32e894645" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen style="position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;"></iframe></div>

<p>A video on how to do this is shown below.https://www.useloom.com/embed/b5a6048d76544f97ab8f26a32e894645</p>

<h4>Checkout Discount</h4>

<p>A checkout discount is only shown at the checkout stage.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="447" src="https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-2-1024x447-1.png" alt="" class="wp-image-183" srcset="https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-2-1024x447-1.png 1024w, https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-2-1024x447-1-300x131.png 300w, https://help.enjovia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Demo-Hotel-2-1024x447-1-768x335.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>If the user has not met the criteria, the discount will still appear as an option that would be ‘available’ (without it being applied or reducing the price), but when the person clicks on it to use it, they will be prompted on why they aren’t able to use the offer. In this case, the £99.99 product did not meet the criteria of having to spend £100 or above.</p>

<p>The below video shows how to create a new automatic checkout promotion.</p>

<div style="position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0;"><iframe src="https://www.useloom.com/embed/1475875024604271afefbf403de5ea78" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen style="position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;"></iframe></div>
